About Us

The association brings together companies operating in the renewable energy sector in Latvia.

Who we are

The Latvian Renewable Energy Alliance (LREA) brings together companies across renewable electricity generation, trading and balancing, equipment supply and installation, and the construction, operation and maintenance of energy infrastructure.

Since 2022, we have represented our members’ shared interests in shaping energy policy and regulation. Our proposals draw on practical industry experience and an understanding of how different parts of the sector work together. We work to ensure that renewable energy produced in Latvia strengthens the country’s energy independence and economic competitiveness.

Purpose, mission and history

Our purpose

To advance a coherent strategy for the renewable electricity sector and support a secure, reliable energy supply from renewable sources.

Our mission

To build a shared industry vision and represent it in dialogue with national and local authorities, system operators and other organisations. To safeguard our members’ professional, economic and legal interests while promoting a predictable environment for the sector’s development.

Our history

In 2022, solar park developers and industry businesses established “Saules enerģija Latvijai” (Solar Energy for Latvia). The sector was growing rapidly, and companies needed a united voice in shaping the conditions for its development.

Many members were also active in wind energy, electricity trading and energy infrastructure construction. These sectors shared common concerns around regulation, infrastructure and electricity markets. In 2025, they came together under a broader representative organisation, and the association adopted the name Latvian Renewable Energy Alliance to reflect its wider scope.
